Job description Established oyster farming operation seeking a motivated, hardworking, and dependable team player to assist in the daily operations of production and management on the oyster farm. This is a full time position to start immediately and work December with year round possibilities. This position is multi-faceted, requiring various skill sets and the ability to think and adjust on the fly, as well as being able to work both independently and as part of a team. This candidate will work closely with the farm owner, and has future possibility of promotion to a farm manager position. Duties will include general oyster farm management, inclusive of but not limited to: Equipment upkeep such as rotating, drying and cleaning oyster gear Building and repairing oyster gear Farm organization and record keeping Grading and sorting oysters both on the farm and in our upwellers Harvesting and preparing oysters for market Delivery of oysters to market Requirements: Must be able to operate a boat and perform basic maintenance. We run pontoon boats and a skiff on the farm. Must have or be willing to obtain RI Boating Safety Certificate Previous aquaculture or commercial fishing experience is strongly preferred Must have personal transportation and a valid driver’s license Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours and lift 50lbs Able to work in adverse weather conditions and maintain a positive attitude This job is ideal for someone who is: Interested in a career in aquaculture, agriculture, or fisheries Comfortable with physical labor and being in the water/on a boat for 8-10 hours a day Independent with a strong work ethic Reliable and willing to work early mornings and late afternoons determined by weather/market demands If you meet these qualifications and are excited about the opportunity about working on a fast growing oyster farm, please submit your resume, cover letter and 2 references.
