Description

Starting in 1949, It was illegal to not be fair, equitable and balanced in broadcasting. It was called the Fairness Doctrine. In 1987 President Ronald Reagan did away with the law, saying it violated free speech and the constitution. In 1988 the Rush Limbaugh appeared, spewing lies and conspiracy theories. It is legal to lie about any topic on any show of any kind. Now politicians and businesses regularly lie to the American people to advance their agendas. There should be no surprise that a huge percentage of all information online is misinformation. Telling the truth depends on if that truth fits your agenda. That’s called free speech in America.
