Description
Heart of Oregon is actively recruiting applicants for AmeriCorps cohorts that start September (9/13) and November (11/1). Crews operate out of Bend and Prineville.
The AmeriCorps Conservation Corps program serves local young people ages 17-24 throughout Central Oregon, and improves over 1,000 acres of public lands a year. Crews of 7-8 local young people and a Staff Crew Leader serve mostly outdoors on natural resource conservation projects. Crews learn to use a chainsaw or crosscut saw, build a fence, control invasive weeds, and maintain hiking/biking trails. Project partners include the Deschutes and Ochoco US Forest Service, Prineville BLM District, and Bend Parks & Rec, among many others.
Cohorts starting in September & November. Term is a 3-month (13 weeks) commitment and is a full-time position. Schedule is often Monday-Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM or Monday-Thursday 7 AM - 5:30 PM. Meeting locations in Bend and Prineville.

Upon request, reasonable accommodations will be pursued for any interested and qualified applicants. Furthermore, people of color, women, and members of vulnerable or underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply. As a recipient of Federal financial assistance, Heart of Oregon Corps is prohibited from discriminating on the grounds of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, political affiliation or belief, and against any beneficiary of programs on the basis of the beneficiary’s citizenship/status as a lawfully admitted immigrant authorized to work in the United States.
