Description

This is Qira :) she is a black lab/Rhodesian ridgeback mix. I believe she also has some black mouth cur in her as well. So a lovely, healthy, mutt! Hehe I believe she is a little over 2.5 years old although I don’t have her true birthdate. We rescued her when she was a little under a year old and had her spayed and vaccinated. We already had an older pit bull who was 6 at the time and she seemed to do well with him so we gave it a go. Unfortunately, we do have other animals. We have two cats and a bunny as well as a now 3 year old son. Qira is a wonderful dog when it comes to being obedient and attentive. She does well with all the basic commands and can be trusted to stay by your side when walking. She knows the perimeters of her house and she can be trusted to stay within them. She is smart and very sweet one on one. She LOVES the water!! Her problem lies with small animals as well as food and toy aggression. Qira is a huntress! She will spend hours hunting down lizards and frogs and squirrels. So unfortunately, our cats and bunny are triggers for her. She has tried on more than one occasion to go after them as her prey drive is just too high. I can’t be very angry with her as I understand she is just a dog but because she can’t be trusted it’s caused a rift between us. When she is not supervised she is left to roam the garage and she also spends much of her time hunting in the back yard. She has also shown food and toy aggression with our son and with our older male pitty. She tries to dominate both bowls if she isn’t being watched and we have had some skirmishes between them over dinner and bones etc.. anyhow, what I’m hoping to find is a family for Qira without small animals and preferably without small children. Although I do trust her to be around my son, it’s never with toys or food left out. Without those triggers, she is wonderful, patient, and very kind with him. I want her to be an inside dog again. Without triggers that get her in trouble or prevent her from being with the family. She is active so preferably an active family who is willing to have lots of outside time with her. I know she will be just perfect for the right home! Qira is spayed and I have her paperwork to show spay, rabies, and vaccinations. January of this year she was actually due for her yearly. Because I am behind on them (although she is perfectly healthy) I am willing to rehome her for free WITH one exception. She is already set up for an appointment at a local low cost spay and neuter clinic on September 2nd. If you keep this appointment and pay for her visit (which will be roughly $50 or less) then she can go home now. If not, I will take her to the appointment myself but will be asking a rehoming fee of $80. She will come with enough food for a weeks transition, paperwork, and any toys or treats she has. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or text me. I’m happy to answer anything. I’m looking for the PERFECT fit and will be open and honest about anything. Thank you for reading this small novel if your still here!!
