Scaffold Erector A scaffold erector is responsible for the safe assembly and disassembly of temporary elevated scaffold structures. These scaffold structures are utilized by a variety of tradespersons within a variety of industries, environments, weather conditions, and geographic locations. In order to support these various industries at various locations, traveling long distances and for extended periods, may be required to maintain steady employment. Your duties will include, assisting with the safe erection and dismantling of scaffold structures in accordance with the design set forth by and under the direct supervision of the company’s designated competent erector. Physical Demands of Position The scaffold erector should be capable of lifting 50 pounds above shoulder height and have the stamina required, for continuous movement of this equipment throughout the workday. A scaffold erector should be comfortable working at heights in excess of 90' and on a platform that is between 19-29" wide, comfortably and productively throughout the day. While working at these heights, the scaffold erector will always be expected to demonstrate cautious, safe, and coordinated handling of the scaffold equipment. In addition to carrying scaffolding materials, a scaffold erector is expected to wear a harness and tool belt weighing 30 pounds throughout their shift. A scaffold erector will be expected to demonstrate keen awareness towards not only their personal safety but the safety of their fellow crew members, other tradesmen, and pedestrians as well. Other Requirements The scaffold erector must be able to follow the instructions of the company’s designated competent erector. As a result, the position requires understanding of basic scaffold design, construction techniques/practices, equipment inspections, and assembly of scaffold in a logical, systematic and organized manner.
