Reporting to the Manager of Grounds and Vehicles, the Groundskeeper works as part of a team and is responsible for school grounds maintenance and resolution of landscape issues to achieve a safe and attractive campus environment. This role includes turf and shrub/tree care, snow and ice removal, and ice rink maintenance. This position is non-exempt, non-benefits eligible, with a part time schedule of 16 hours per week. Duties and Responsibilities: Perform landscape and turf responsibilities, as each season requires. This includes such duties as: pruning, mowing, fertilization, planting and transplanting nursery stock, tree removal, weed control and leaf pick-up. Prepare and maintain all athletic fields and surfaces to ensure they are safe and ready for use. This includes grooming fields, tennis court maintenance and care of equipment (i.e., goals/nets, benches, backstops, etc.). Perform tasks and duties as required for special events, such as graduation, alumni weekend, parent’s weekend, PMAC events and school conferences. This role may include some evening and weekend hours during periods of an emergency or severe weather. Performs equipment maintenance. Requirements: Previous landscape experience using tractors, large mowing equipment, power tools and hand tools. Current State of CT Motor Vehicle License. Knowledge of shrub planting, maintenance, and plant identification preferred. Good customer service skills. Familiarity with equipment maintenance. Lifting: This position is physically active and includes lifting of components, occasionally up to fifty pounds. Willingness to work under adverse weather conditions.
