"People are suffering,” she said. “People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are at the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!” That is a quote from G. Thunberg, environmentalist That section of the piece was accompanied by the forest fire picture. Same day, today, Greta says in a bbc web site piece, "the United Nations says the fashion industry is widely believed to be the second-most polluting industry in the world. It accounts for more than 20% of wastewater globally - enough for 5 million people to survive - is used by the fashion industry every year....as for carbon emissions, the industry is responsible for about 8% of the total worldwide. That's more than all international flights and shipping combined." She goes on the say, "these companies are often accused of greenwashing, which is a form of marketing spin designed to mislead consumers about the environmental merits of a product." Greta says, "the term "fast fashion" is used to describe the rapid, low-cost production of clothing to service demand for seasonal trends." This story is accompanied by the picture of Greta on the cover of Vogue in an oversized second hand dress and a horse. Got it? You are responsible for mass extinction with driving, porter house steak and using air conditioning but the progressives and Democratic Socialist females, and designers like Kenneth Cole who are CEO of environmental activist groups, rich elites by global standards, are the ones with closets full of shoes and afford multiple fashion trendy seasonal stuff which changes with the wind and movie stars themes. Celebrities are ranked by their fashion and influence on teen buyers to get them to consume things they wear once. They are the ones on social media and MSNBC trying to tax you by the mile driven but God forbid they have to be limited to two second hand outfits year round, like my jeans, to combat mass extinction. I think my observation could be worded better, but it's true, right? That is an example of how I learned to use critical thinking and teach my students well. Alan I knew none of this.
