Description
815 Youth Day showcasing our youth & celebrating their future. Come celebrate with us Joliet Unity Movement is proud to announce our Annual 815 Youth Day Sunday August 15th 2021. At 1pm at Nowell Park Gardner Street Pavilion We invite the entire community to join us as we celebrate our youth and showcase their many talents throughout the day. As our late board member Loretta Westbrooks would urge with high energy and excitement "Bring the Kids Out to Have a Great Time with Unity 815." Our 7 years working, volunteering, mentoring & growing with our youth & families have proven to be a success. This year we are so grateful to be back in person, after a tough year of remote mentoring. We appreciate having so many who helped us deliver hygiene, food pantry, personal protective care packages to our families during the height of the pandemic. We were able to stay connected and committed to a positive holistic message in what we do. With our 8th year upon us, we have great pride in our message that has resonated with youth and their families alike to Stop Violence in our communities. This year, we will host a 3on3 Basketball Tournament, Talent Show, The Lil Big Wheel Race, Double Dutch Contest, Activity Stations, Music Prizes & Lots of Giveaways. We appreciate our premier sponsor D'Arcy Buick GMC in helping to make this and many of our events a success. Volunteer & donation opportunities are still available. Our founding goal was to create a message to young people to help stop violence in our community. Through creating a safe place where youth and children can enjoy educational and recreational activities the personal message and testimonials of volunteer board and staff relate to youth and inspire children to make good life decisions as well as become productive and engaged in the world around us.
