Description

Join The Extreme History Project on a walking tour through Bozeman's historic Chinese community. Chinese immigrants and Chinese Americans were an integral part of early Montana life, fulfilling roles as miners, laundry men, restaurant owners, and purveyors of fresh vegetables. They came to the West, as many did, to find a better life for themselves and their families. While these Chinese people faced discrimination in many areas of their life, they made a major impact on the city of Bozeman. Join the Extreme History Project as we uncover this history in Seeking Fortunes: Bozeman’s China Alley. Covid-19 health precautions: we strongly recommend that those who have not been vaccinated wear a mask. The Extreme History Project began as a means of making the humanities more fun, interesting and accessible to the general public and as a real means of generating social change. The Project hopes to encompass a variety of events and activities which will enhance the public’s understanding of how history has shaped our present and how understanding that legacy can affect the way we behave towards one another. Extreme History believes in setting a Truth Agenda which will work toward eradicating political and social agendas from the traditional historical narratives and pursue a more balanced and honest expression of the past.
