This class is also for you if you are interested in learning more about Alzheimer's disease and other dementias just for your awareness, your knowledge, or advocacy. This 8- hour class brings together a wide variety of individuals to “examine” and share ways to translate what we are constantly learning into a loving approach that provides a person-centered approach and offers individuals living with dementia to feel valued, successful and hopeful in their day-to-day ADL's while also giving them meaning and purpose. This seminar will transform and refresh your current care and present a mix of new insights, tried and true goals, communication skills and innovative and easy to learn successful care practices that will take your dementia care perspective and service provision to the next level. This is a combination of hands-on training, classroom-based training and role-play training. Whether you have your CDP or not, this is a great way to get that foundation or add on to that foundation and enhance your knowledge and your skills of dementia as a professional, caregiver, and/or advocate This course is a combination classroom, hands-on and role playing training, led by Christi Ruth, LPN, BCPA, CDP, BC-DEd. Christi is the Founder/CEO of Dementia360 Consulting and she has worked in healthcare for over 28 years; primarily in the geriatric side along with individuals living with dementia. Christi is a licensed nurse, licensed Kansas assisted living operator, board certified patient advocate, and a board-certified Alzheimer’s and dementia educator through the National Institute for Dementia Education and currently working towards her Masters in Dementia Studies. Christi has worked as both a Director of Nursing and as an Assisted Living Operator in memory care homes and facilities helping to ensure excellent care for her residents. Christi has worked since 2016 providing trainings, consultation services, and support to families, organizations, healthcare professionals and others who have been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. Christi’s passion is to educate caregivers and the community about dementia in order to improve quality of life and care for both those living with dementia and those caring for or involved with individuals that are presenting with dementia symptoms or living with a diagnosis of dementia. Therefore, Christi has started a non-profit called KAIROS that offers free programming for individuals with memory challenges and their caregivers that includes a memory café’ for them to come and enjoy music, art, dance, exercise and much more a few hours at a time throughout the month. In addition, Christi is a volunteer with her local Alzheimer’s Association- Heart of America Chapter as a community educator and support group facilitator.
