PORT CHESTER, NY — A busy Saturday for the Port Chester Police Department kicked off with a failed bank robbery and culminated with a life saved.
Shortly before 4 p.m., PCPD officers answered a 911 call about a man slumped in front of the wheel of a car on a busy stretch of Boston Post Road. Police arrived to find the driver unconscious at a traffic light.
Cops soon realized the man was not only overdosing, but was not breathing.
The driver was removed from the car and given multiple doses of Narcan. Meanwhile, police started CPR and within minutes, the man started breathing again. The overdose victim was soon awake and talking.
"If not for the concerned citizen calling 911 and our quick response and life saving intervention, this story would not have had a happy ending," Port Chester police said in a statement about the incident.
Just hours earlier, police were nearby investigating an attempted bank robbery at the TD Bank on Boston Post Road.
Investigators say the suspect passed a note demanding money and reportedly displayed "some sort of sharp object." The suspect ended up fleeing the bank empty-handed. Police say no one was injured in the brazen, but ultimately failed robbery.
The Port Chester Police Department is asking anyone who was in the area of the TD bank and saw anything suspicious at around 11:30 a.m. to call detectives at 914-939-6332.
