OYSTER BAY, NY — The 2021 Oyster Festival, which typically attracts thousands of seafood lovers annually, has been canceled for the second year in a row, Newsday reports. The Oyster Bay event was scheduled to take place on Oct. 16 and 17 in Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park. It was canceled due to a rise in local COVID-19 cases and the Delta variant, according to the media outlet. "The health and well-being of the residents of our beloved Oyster Bay-East Norwich community and the festival attendees is our primary concern," the co-hosts of the Rotary Club of Oyster Bay and the Oyster Bay Charitable Fund told Newsday. Patch has reached out to organizers for comment. The festival is scheduled to return in 2022.
