MILWAUKEE, WI — The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee has launched a program to offer incentives for students to get vaccinated.
University students will be eligible for MacBook Air laptops, tickets to sports games and restaurant gift cards when they get their shot, the university said.
Under the "It's Worth a Shot!" program, students also will have a chance to walk away with free UWM-branded merchandise at a series of in school clinics that start Tuesday, the university said.
Here's a list of vaccination clinics UWM has planned.
Tuesday: 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Student Union BallroomAug. 24: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Student Union Wisconsin Room EastSept. 1: 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. Pop-up on main campusSept. 2: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Pop-up on main campusSept. 7: 3 p.m.-7 p.m. Cambridge Commons and Kenilworth Housing University of Wisconsin System President Tommy Thompson announced the "70 for 70" campaign July 25, to give UW students a chance to win a $7,000 scholarship for attending a campus with at least 70 percent vaccination rates, the school system said in a statement.
The University of Wisconsin and University of Alabama are two of the latest school systems to announce incentives for student vaccinations, Forbes reported.
