RENTON, WA — The Renton Police Department arrested a man early Monday after investigators said he barricaded himself inside a home with his family, shot at responding officers and set the house on fire. Police arrived at a home on the 11400 block of Southeast 177th Pl. just before 3:15 a.m., after receiving reports of a distraught family member barricaded in an upstairs bedroom with a gun. Investigators said the man's relatives called 911 after they began to hear gunshots. As officers arrived, police said the man was firing his gun out the window and begin shooting in their direction. Officers evacuated the other family members from the home along with several neighbors. Video posts on social media by local media outlets showed flames visible from the street Monday morning. Renton police said officers and SWAT members were not engaging at the time of the fire. Investigators said the man left the house a short time later and was taken into custody without further incident. He was booked into jail on suspicion or arson and several counts of felony assault. UPDATE: Armed suspect who barricaded himself inside a home in the 11400 Blk of SE 177th Pl will be charged with Arson and numerous counts of Assault 1st for shooting at responding officers.
