Press release from the City of Austin: August 6, 2021 Case: 21-2130159 Date: Sunday, August 1, 2021 Time: 2:15 a.m. Location: 1400 E. 38 ½ St. Deceased: James Burrows, White male, born 7/8/1958 The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified James Burrows as the deceased in the Sunday, August 1 homicide on E. 38 ½ St. Austin 9-1-1 received a report of a person lying in the parking lot. Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. On August 2, 2021, the Travis County Medical Examiner's office conducted an autopsy and ruled the cause of death as gunshot wounds and the manner, Homicide.
