AUSTIN, TX — One person is dead and another remains missing after a water rescue involving three people in the Hudson Bend area on Lake Travis on Sunday. Austin-Travis County EMS said it received multiple 911 calls around 2:46 p.m. Sunday about a person struggling in the water near the 5700 block of Longhorn Landing, before appearing "lifeless." Medics said one person was dead on scene, one was evaluated for non-life threatening injuries and refused transport and the search of another swimmer had transitioned to a "recovery." #ATCEMS & Multiple ESDs are responding to a Water Rescue at 5708-6000 Longhorn Landing (14:46). 911 callers reporting one person was struggling in the water, now "appears lifeless." More information to follow.— ATCEMS (@ATCEMS) August 8, 2021 The Travis County Sheriff's Office told KVUE an aerial search had been conducted, and lake patrol would be "searching with sonar until dark" for a man missing in the water on Sunday. No updates were made Monday morning. The identity of the person who died Sunday was also not available.
