AUSTIN, TX — A man is in custody after police say he allegedly attempted to break into a neighbor's home early Sunday. Senior officer Alexandra Parker, a spokesperson for Austin police, told reporters Sunday police received a 911 call around 2:04 a.m. for a man breaking into a person's home in the 900 block of Keith Lane near Red River Street. When officers arrived, they were able to come into contact with the man; however, he refused to listen to officers and retreated to his own apartment. Authorities believe the man was armed. As a result, Austin PD issued a SWAT call and shelter-in-place for the area, Parker said. SWAT was able to enter the home safely using distraction devices. At 5:56 a.m., the man was detained and arrested by police. The shelter-in-place order was lifted around 9 a.m. Parker said the man was a neighbor to the victim. His identity has not been released nor the charges he may face.
