LONG VALLEY, NJ — An unidentified driver is facing multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated in Washington Township, after police pulled them over in the early morning hours Monday.
The responding police officer pulled the person's car over shortly after midnight Monday morning on Route 46, because one of the car lights was out.
The officer reported that they noticed "signs of impairment" from the driver and what smelled like burnt marijuana from the car, as they spoke to them.
In performing sobriety tests after pulling them over, Lt. Mark Niemynski - a spokesperson for the department - said in a news release the officer "observed signs of impairment" and believed the driver to be "under the influence of narcotics."
The driver, who is now awaiting a court appearance, Niemynski said, additionally faces reckless driving charges; and was charged with not properly maintaining their vehicle's lights.
