SHOREWOOD, IL —Summer is starting to wind down, but that doesn't mean the fun is going away in the Shorewood area. On Labor Day Weekend, the Will County Brewing Company is promoting the Will County Brew Run 5K. The event will take place on Sept. 4, which is a Saturday. Get this, the run is set for 5:15 p.m. -prime beer drinking time. "There will be a beer garden area on site for post race festivities compliments of Will County Brewing," event organizers proclaim. "Whether you are a competitive runner, run runner, walker or just enjoy excellent local craft beer, this is the event for you." The Will County Brew Run 5K will take place at Shorewood's Four Seasons Park along Seil Road. If you register this coming week for the event, doing so will cost you $30. If you wait to sign up on Aug. 14 or afterward, it will be $50. Either way, registration participants will receive the following items: a Ring Spun Cotton T-Shirt, a finisher medal, which is actually a bottle opener and refrigerator magnet, a souvenir pint glass, a chip timed race bib and one beer ticket for a post race party. According to event organizers, race packet pickup will be at Will County Brewing Company, 1142 West Jefferson St. and that's tentatively scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3.
