CONCORD, NH — A New Hampshire fugitive, wanted since July, was arrested on Friday in Boston, Massachusetts, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Anthony Govan, 28, who was last known to be transient in and around Boston, was wanted on a bail violation in New Hampshire after being arrested on a drug-dealing charge after a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in Greenland in July 2019. He was also out on bail with GPS monitoring in Massachusetts connected to a gun case. Govan, however, cut off the GPS bracelet and stopped reporting to supervisory officers in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. All of the task force's tips led to the Bay State, according to Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal. That information was sent to the U.S Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Massachusetts — which works closely with the Boston Police Department on a lot of fugitive investigations, he said. "As a result of this partnership and the shared information, members of the Boston Police Department-Youth Violence Strike Force on patrol around Centre and Bickford streets in Jamaica Plain, where they observed Govan last Friday," White said. "Members of the task force were able to make contact with Govan and arrest him without incident." Govan was taken to the Suffolk County Jail pending court appearances and was held on Monday after arraignment. After resolving his charges in Massachusetts, he will be turned over to New Hampshire marshals and brought back to the state to resolve the narcotics case, White said. U.S. Marshal Nick Willard said task force members work "tirelessly" in these states as well as others to find fugitives — and if they think they are immune from arrest by crossing state lines, they are mistaken. "I can assure you that the US Marshals Service and its partners continue to prove fugitives wrong every day when we find and arrest them," he said.
