PHILADELPHIA — More people are testing positive for the coronavirus and more people are being hospitalized by the virus in Philadelphia. According to data provided by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health Monday, 5 percent of coronavirus tests have come back positive in the city over the past two weeks This is an increase from 4 percent reported last week. The positive testing rate has been increasing since July 15, when officials reported a 2 percent positive testing rate The city is averaging 180 new cases per day over the last two weeks. Additionally, coronavirus hospitalizations are rising. Officials Monday reported 118 patients are being treated for coronavirus in Philadelphia, 13 of whom are on ventilators. That 118 figure is the highest since June 10, which saw 113 people in city hospitals with the coronavirus. As of Monday, 148,435 Philadelphians have been diagnosed with coronavirus, and 3,780 have succumbed to the virus. At least 783,768 Philadelphians have been fully vaccinated, and at least 955,582 Philadelphians are partially vaccinated. Officials reported Monday 63.1 percent of Philadelphia adults are fully vaccinated, and 77 percent of Philadelphia adults have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
