Norristown Approves $5.5M For Playgrounds, Infrastructure

NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown has approved several early projects, totaling $5.5 million, to be funded with its federal American Rescue Plan Act money. Norristown received a total of $20 million in economic stimulus money from the federal government to assist in its recovery from the pandemic. Municipal Council voted last week to approve the spending, which includes significant money for local parks, as well as infrastructure improvements. Among the approved projects was a $188,000 improvement to Simmons Park's basketball courts. There was also $85,000 allotted to assess the sewer system. Millions in APRA funding remain at Norristown's disposal.
