STILLWATER, MN —Residents in Stillwater should be wearing masks when in indoor, public settings, according to the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control. Washington County currently has a "high" community transmission rate, the CDC finds. Counties with high or substantial transmission rates should mandate indoor masks, the CDC said. According to the CDC: Substantial areas are areas with between 50 and 99.99 cases per 100,000 people in a weekHigh areas are areas with more than 100 cases per 100,000 in a week The CDC can only make recommendations. It's up to the state and local government whether to adopt any new policies. The highly infectious delta variant of COVID-19 is spreading throughout the U.S. and Minnesota, spurring a surge in new cases and hospitalizations.
