Doylestown Health Announces Children's Village Rebuild

DOYLESTOWN, PA — One year after it was damaged in a tornado, Children's Village at Doylestown Health will be rebuilt, hospital officials announced last week. Jeanne and John Hubbard have announced they will match all gifts up to $1.5 million for the new center. On Aug. 4, 2020, an EF2 tornado struck Doylestown, causing damage to the hospital campus and Children's Village. Though the students and staff were evacuated safely and without serious injury, the building was damaged beyond further use. The Village resumed operations a week later at a temporary site on Ferry Road. Though insurance covers part of the cost of rebuilding, donations will ensure the new facility is "commensurate with Doylestown Health's standard of excellence," hospital officials said. The new building's expanded footprint will include four infant rooms, four young toddler rooms, three older toddler rooms, four preschool rooms and one kindergarten room. There will also be a dedicated library space, an interactive playground and outdoor learning space, a tech-equipped "smart" kindergarten room, a dedicated art room and teaching kitchen, an administrative suite for teachers, staff and care professionals and an integrative classroom designed for children with special needs.
