HENNEPIN COUNTY, MN — Coronavirus community spread is on the rise in Hennepin County, as it is in the rest of the nation. New cases are up by 173 percent in Hennepin County, according to the New York Times. There are now 13 confirmed cases among 100,000 people, and an average of 727 new cases every day. Hennepin County has a "high" level of community transmission, according to the Centers for Disease Control. That is the CDC's highest category for case spread. The county has one of the highest vaccination rates in the nation. A total of 61.9 percent of the entire population is fully vaccinated. Vaccine mandates in Minneapolis Augsburg University and Minnesota College of Art and Design are among the Minnesota colleges that will require students and staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19 this fall.
