Seven months and three days ago saw one of the saddest days in modern American history when thousands of anti-democratic rioters and crazed Trump toadies obeyed his order to take back the government after he lost in a landslide election. January 6th was the day our elected officials were to certify the election of Joe Biden who beat Trump by seven million votes in the popular election and by a 306-232 defeat in the Electoral College. Trump, the mega egomaniac-in-chief, refused to accept that he lost badly and convinced his Kool-Aid drinking followers that the election was a fraud. Despite over 60 lawsuits in state and federal courts around the country challenging the results in which Trump lost every one, his lackeys were persuaded of the “Big Lie” and he and Giuliani convinced them to attempt anarchy and disrupt the certification, including killing Mike Pence. Each of the anarchists arrested and charged will now face justice and some have already been convicted. Those who are awaiting trial must surely wonder how they were suckered into attacking our cornerstone of democracy by a lazy, unintelligent and disingenuous President who always put his own needs and those of his family ahead of the needs of the country. And those who are facing prison must certainly now know that Trump is laughing at them, knowing that he can fool some of the people all of the time.
