Evening Farm Assistant
Wisconsin Family Dairy Farm – Neenah, WI
Job description
Seeking a strong evening farm helper to cover evening milking and feeding on my dairy farm. Position involves milking 100 cows in stall barn with cows that have names and big personalities. Position also includes some physical labor of barn cleaning, feeding animals and calf care.
Hours are approx. 3:30pm-7:30pm.
*Must work a minimum of 5 days/week but will not turn down someone who wants more hours! Minimum hours requirement: 20hrs/week.
Requirements:
Must enjoy working with and caring for animals, especially cows
Must be comfortable being close to large animals (tie stall and free stall barns)
Must value animal care and cleanliness
Must be comfortable with physical work and find it satisfying
Must consistently have a positive attitude and be easy to work with
Must be able to work independently with limited direction (after training)
Must be able to lift ~50lbs - hay, feed, lime, straw, buckets of water or milk, etc.
Must have reliable transportation to and from work
Must be a quick learner, seeking someone with leadership qualities
Preference will be given to candidates who have milking or dairy farming experience or for someone who grew up or works in the dairy industry
Salary: $13/hr starting. $15 with experience of milking, ability to work fast enough with 4 units and the ability to operate skid steers and drive on feed cart. No experience can work up to $15 but it will take time.
