Classification Non-Exempt Reports to Pastor Date August 2021 Job Description Church Drummer Summary/Objective Drummer Provide musical leadership on the drums and auxiliary percussion and will work with the Director of Worship & The Arts, Music Director, Senior Pastor, Executive Pastor, and Associate Pastors to ensure order, structure, and harmony among all aspects of worship within Holy Temple of Faith Church and other ministry events as required. Essential Functions  Practice individually and regularly to ensure excellence of execution in all repertoire each week. This is easily a three-hour commitment per week.  Work with a team of other musicians in HTOF Church rhythm section (drummer, bass player, and other keyboard/organ musicians), small brass ensemble, and guest musicians.  Reports at 9:00 a.m. Every Sunday morning to begin warm-up and band review for worship.  Be prepared for and attend all scheduled band and/or choir rehearsals.  Support the church’s dynamic worship environment through well-prepared execution of all music that includes accurate leadership of hymns, praise & worship music, contemporary, gospel and other music offered by the choir and congregation.  Perform all other related duties and assignments as deemed necessary on required dates. Competencies  Must have excellent sight-reading/chart-reading skills and the ability to play music representative of the genres used in worship at HTOF Church: anthems, hymns, traditional gospel, praise and worship, contemporary gospel, and other styles.  Follow written and oral instructions with little supervision. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a consultant position. Days and hours of work are Sundays 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., except during special programs and events during nights and weekends. Required Education and Experience High school diploma. Experience working in music ministry as a drummer. Preferred Education and Experience Experience in church music ministry, music performance, music education, or other related field. Experience in Music, Worship, and/or the Arts.
