Kundalini Yoga and Mindfulness at Temescal Gateway Park brings us together to enjoy the beauty and power of these two practices in nature. Please arrive at 9:30am to find parking and settle into this beautiful space as class will start promptly at 10:00am. In this monthly class, we’ll expand our body consciousness, transform discomfort into surrender and strength, and witness imagined limitations change into self-actualized potentialities. We’ll remember our innate mystery, its mastery, and the magic of our symbiotic relationship with the natural world as a call to become its stewards. In this process of Self-discovery, we’ll embrace our shadows and relinquish attachments so that the Soul may illuminate our path of bringing our unique gift to uplift humanity. Lying at the base of the spine is a dormant reserve of energy that when ignited through certain postures and breathing exercises, rises up the spine and into the brain where the pituitary and pineal glands are engaged to awaken us to our higher consciousness. While this is a spiritual practice, there is a lot of science behind this technology which is known to improve physical & mental health, stress & emotion regulation, awareness & mindfulness, and overall wellbeing. Sharing in these benefits with others out in the beauty of nature provides a sense of community and connection to the Earth. Class format starts with a handful of warmups, a series of different Kundalini yoga postures, a period of deep relaxation with gong bath, and ends with a brief meditation. No prior yoga or meditation experience is necessary, just an open mind and an open heart. THINGS TO NOTE - Bring yoga mat, small cushion for support, light blanket, sunglasses and sunscreen (there is shade). - Wear comfortable clothing you can stretch and move freely in. - Eat a light breakfast at least 1hr before and bring a reusable water bottle. - There are nice restrooms you may use toward the north end of the 2nd parking lot. - Ceremonial cacao will be served. PARKING - Temescal Gateway Park is located at 15601 Sunset Blvd, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272 - TO PARK: after you turn off/cross Sunset and are on Temescal Canyon Rd., go past the 1st lot on your left and continue driving northward until you reach the 2nd lot. If the 2nd lot is full, turn back and try the 1st lot closer to Sunset and walk back, otherwise there's free parking on Temescal Canyon but a longer walk. A credit card pay station is on the right as you approach the 2nd lot and costs $12. Please allow yourself enough time to park. LOCATING US AT EITHER: Because it's a first come first serve space, we could be at one of two spots: - THE BIG TREE: at the beginning of the 2nd lot along the left side where the parked cars face west, as you come to the first few parking spaces look along the curb for stone steps leading down the hill to the big tree surrounded by the brown platform. From Temescal Canyon Rd or 1st lot, walk northward on Temescal and as you approach the 2nd lot, on the left side as noted above look down to the left for stone steps leading down the hill to the oak tree surrounded by the brown platform. - THE LITTLE TREE: at the beginning of the 2nd lot along the right side (past the payment machine) walk towards the bathrooms building and after ~500ft look to your right for 4 stone steps leading up to a little clearing of grass with a little tree at the center and stone theater seating around the back.
