Farm Crew Positions Available Field Work: 15-20 hours per week M/W/F August 2021 – early November 2021 This is a field crew position focusing mainly on harvesting with some planting and cultivating. You would work alongside the farm managers and other farm crew members. This position can expect 5 hour work days, starting at 6:00am and ending at 11:00am. On some days there would be an option to take an unpaid lunch break from 11:00am - Noon and then returning to work from Noon - 4:00pm. Starting compensation is $13/hr plus farm vegetables. We have some flexibility with days of the week for this position, but the ideal candidate is available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week. Later in the fall the work day will start and end later, for example in October that might be 7:00am to Noon. Responsibilities: assist in daily operations of the farm consisting of but not limited to plant propagation, greenhouse maintenance, field preparation, transplanting, cultivation, harvest, post-harvest handling, infrastructure projects, livestock care & farm maintenance. Vegetable production experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate. Experience in landscaping, construction, and other outdoor labor positions is a plus. We are looking for someone who enjoys working outside, is physically fit, capable of working long days, can work well in challenging weather, be an active team player, and has excellent communication skills. The ideal person to join our crew can work every week through the season. We cannot accommodate someone who needs to request many days off during the season. Our ideal candidate sees local small to medium scale food production as a worthwhile and dynamic pursuit in the long term interest of any community. However, if your primary interest is in food systems, permaculture gardening and/or food justice work this farm crew position is not appropriate for you. If you would be comfortable at a landscaping job and you are looking for a physically and mentally engaging job centered around vegetable production, then please apply! All farm crew members must have reliable transportation, be comfortable driving farm trucks, be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly, be comfortable with livestock, be able to work well alone and with the team, be able to retain multi-part instruction, be respectful and conscientious.
