So you think all musicians should just be happy to play any kind of gig, anyplace, any time? Are you that way with any other job? Or where you live? Who you date or marry? NO standards, just be grateful for whatever table scrap kind of gigs you can find? Playing smoky sports bars till 2am might be fine for the hobby band, that plays the same overdone classic rock staples that every hobby band plays. But some musicians have higher standards, both in their abilities, and the places they play. If you are used to playing nicer, non smoking, better paid venues, why would you want to regress back into the bottom feeder gigs? Besides, how many backward venues still allow smoking inside??
