Description
You want to meet my daughter! She's that life-changer of a person that everyone who cares for falls in love with. Of course, great caregivers don't last forever, so I'm looking again. My daughter (age 25) is in a wheelchair and needs a lot of physical help. You don't need special needs experience, just patience and warmth and some strength -- she weighs around 90 pounds, and you'll have to lift and transfer her safely (e.g., from bed to wheelchair, bed to toileting chair, etc.) If you're petite, it probably won't work! Usually, anyone shorter than 5'7" struggles. There's a ton to tell you, but know that you will laugh a lot, and you'll make a new friend.
We need about 35-38 hours per week including a few overnights (you'd mostly sleep) and some weekend hours. You will have your own space with your own entrance (bedroom, sitting room, private bathroom, patio in the nice weather), and access to a car. You'll save a ton (rent-free living!), and you'll get paid for your time ($15-16/hour).
Start is flexible; targeting October 1. Salary is paid through MassHealth, so you must be legal to work in the US. Non-smokers only. If you want to know more, please respond with a description of yourself and any experience you have, and put "Tell Me More!" on the first line you write. (If the way you respond to a CL post is to paste in the same boring, misspelled, one-size-fits-all text, please don't bother.)
