Roommate/Caregiver for Disabled Young Lady
Jobs
Los Angeles CA
Description
Wonderful, kind, loving positive, health conscious, non-smoking female assistant/caregiver/roommate needed for sweet disabled young lady with cerebral palsy. Lovely private room in our daughter's in sanctuary type setting comes with this job. (*If you happen to be yoga, movement or massage oriented please inquire as to other aspects of this job) As our daughter's live in assistant you would be doing caretaking for her. This includes feeding her, showering her, dressing her, taking her to the bathroom, jacuzzi-ing and sunning with her in our sanctuary type yard, cooking healthy organic meals for her, driving her, sometimes driving her places and being a great companion to her. You would have your own private room to live in 24/7 and could come and go as you please when not on the clock, but would need to sleep at the house at least 4 nights per week. On those nights you would need to take our daughter to the bathroom usually once per overnight (very occasionally more). This is usually in early morning hours around 5 or 6ish am. You would put her back in bed immediately after and can go back to sleep. We will train the right person for all these tasks. We have a housekeeper weekly so no major housekeeping needed but the home still needs to be managed. Our daughter is a very sweet, interesting, ambitious and talented young woman who is very physically challenged with cerebral palsy. Her goal in life is to create a movement program for disabled people to help them enjoy movement at whatever level they can move. She LOVES yoga and practices 4 or 5 times per week. She also enjoys meditation, giving and getting massages, reading poetry, listening to music and hanging out with loved ones. While she is physically active, her disability is such that she can walk only with assistance, has limited use of her hands (so cannot feed herself), and cannot speak verbally, but communicates with either the use of a computer speech device or by using a unique method we call "partner-assisted spelling." Job is approximately 30-40 hours per week + 4 or 5 nights being on call while at home (while sleeping) depending on what is agreed upon in advance. It could possibly be a few less hours per week than this. Here is a video made about Eden a couple of years ago when she was doing sculpture: (Just as a note, I have included video so people can learn a bit about our daughter, but she is not seeking an art assistant at this time). It is essential that our person be completely reliable. Our daughter needs a stable environment she can thrive in. We can't afford to have anyone who is flaky in anyway! While no full body lifting is needed for our daughter, you do need to be strong to move our daughter around. Fortunately, our daughter is quite small (weighing approximately 73 lbs) but it still does take strength to move her around. Having your own exercise practice is helpful. If you have any issues with your back, this is NOT a good job for you. You must be able to work legally in United States.
