Body painting, quilting, gaming, live music, and more at Downtown Bridgeport's PARK(ing) Day! PARK(ing) Day is an annual global re-visioning of urban public space that was developed in 2005. The event encourages community members, small businesses, cultural institutions, students and more to transform metered parking spaces into temporary park-lets. It’s purpose is to celebrate public spaces in a way that everyone can enjoy. This year, Downtown Bridgeport will participate in PARK(ing) Day on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Come check out spaces activated along Fairfield Avenue and on Broad Street! As the Business Improvement District for the Park City, the mission of the Bridgeport Downtown Special Services District is to promote the preservation and development of the downtown business district; make the area more attractive and accessible; and enhance the public perception of downtown Bridgeport through overseeing and managing its appearance, security, and cleanliness.  The DSSD is operated under the direction of a nine member Board of Commissioners representing property owners in downtown Bridgeport.
