Tour a 13-year mature food forest that replaced a large suburban lawn & a bud grafting demonstration. Growing food & supporting nature!
Loping Coyote Farms started in 2008 as a "Kill the giant lawn" project and a "What can we grow instead?" question. Since then, Nathan has been managing the care of his parents' landscape, which is now a jungle-like 1 acre forest garden, mixed with patches of annual gardens, an earthen oven, a tunnel house, a strawbale greenhouse, and even a remnant of lawn become diversified "meadow." A lot of plants were needed in the process, and Nathan ended up starting the Loping Coyote Farms plant nursery to offer many lesser-known and less-available but effective plants to local people who are interested in similar sorts of gardening. Come take a tour and see what has worked and hear about what hasn't. Nathan will also do a demonstration of summer bud-grafting, grafting buds of desired varieties of plum and pear onto established trees.
