POSITION SUMMARY The Bay Area Discovery Museum (BADM) seeks a temporary Facilities Coordinator to support our Facilities and Exhibits teams. This is a maintenance-heavy facilities role that will require extended periods of standing, reaching, and lifting (up to 50 pounds). Duties will be spread throughout our 7.5-acre campus, so candidates must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors on different types of terrain. Bay Area Discovery Museum is non-profit children’s museum located in Sausalito. Candidates will be required to work onsite at our campus for this role and abide by and enforce our health and safety measures. Effective September 1, 2021, all BADM positions will require proof of COVID vaccination, unless otherwise receiving an approved request for accommodation. The pay rate for this full time, non-exempt role is $19.04/hour. The schedule for this role is still to be determined but will include one weekend day. KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Carries out basic maintenance/repair of all buildings and grounds. Conducts museum opening and closing security procedures. Assists with program, event, and festival production, including set-up and teardown. Monitors a high standard of cleanliness throughout the museum site. Performs general janitorial duties in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Abides by and enforces a health and safety protocols. Assures a safe site for children and families, staff and volunteers. Provides immediate response to site issues and requests. Utilizes the Facilities help ticket system for all fabrication, repair, and event requests. Helps to ensure general shop safety, serviceability, and proper use of tools and equipment by participating in shop maintenance tasks as appropriate. Maintains flexibility of schedule to provide support for special events and Facilities staff coverage. Available for exhibit repairs and cleaning under guidance of the Exhibits Manager. Performs other duties as assigned. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: General repair and mechanical skills a plus, including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools. Knowledge of and adherence to tool and shop safety. Knowledge of OSHA regulations. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Ability to work well with a variety of people from various backgrounds and cultures. Mature, friendly, good-humored, and service-oriented. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Candidates must have reliable access to transportation to our site. General computer skills, including proficiency with accessing internet, email. Creativity and orientation towards problem-solving. Ability to communicate with outside vendors, including but not limited to janitorial, electricians, painters, HVAC, locksmiths, and plumbers, as assigned by the Facilities team leadership. Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
