Description

Oakland Encampment Tour! August 7-9, 2021 In support of the residents of Mosswood Park who are facing eviction from the City of Oakland on Monday, August 9, we are having live music, food and an open mic at three different autonomous villages/encampments to bring cultural celebration and mutual aid to those who face displacement. Saturday, August 7 at 6pm, at the Wood Street Commons 1707 stage (20th and Wood street in West Oakland) we will kick off the tour, with live music, open mic/pass the mic. We go as late as we feel. Sunday, August 8 at 6pm, at the Cob on Wood stage (enter at Grand ave. and Wood st. in West Oakland), featuring food, live music, open mic/pass the mic, 'til we feel like it. THEN some of us are going to Mosswood Park (entrance at the corner of Broadway and under the 580 freeway) that night to set up the PA and sleep in the Amphitheatre, so we can be available in the morning of Monday, August 9th to help our brothers and sisters who may be forced by the City to pack up their lives and move out of the Park. We need food, cleaning supplies, portable lights, firewood, as well as musicians, and performers. In addition, we may need help transporting some of the displaced residents where they need to go. We will supply the generator, the PA and musical instruments to make our voices heard, and bring more attention and aid to these inhumane displacements. Call Theo at if you can help with the above items or want perform. woodstreetcommons.com
