Body Of Ocean City Swimmer Found After Rip Current: Reports

OCEAN CITY, MD — Rescue crews said an Ocean City swimmer was swept away by a rip current Wednesday. Officials did not identify the 17-year-old from Annapolis. Searchers found the victim's body early Thursday afternoon in the water near 13th street, WBOC reported. The incident happened around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday near 112th street, a Facebook post explained. The write-up mentioned that the Ocean City Beach Patrol noticed a group struggling to swim. The release informed that three beachgoers left the water safely, and lifeguards tried to save the fourth. The beach patrol dispatched 50 surf rescue technicians to search the area, authorities noted. Leaders added that the lifeguards got assistance from the Ocean City Fire Department, U.S. Coast Guard and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police.
