Brookville Center for Children’s Services is an Office of Children & Family Services (OCFS) approved and licensed Day Care Program and State Education Department (SED) approved program. Children are afforded an enriching experience and adhere to the New York State Standards of Early Childhood Learning. Activities such as music, arts and crafts, language, motor, pre-academic and technology are taught by appropriately credentialed staff. The Special Education Teacher will evaluate and provide appropriate special education services to assigned children. This person will oversee activities of the assigned teacher assistants and aides, communicate appropriately with families of assigned children, and increase professional knowledge in areas relevant to children enrolled in program. *May be required to attend evening meetings. Special Education Teachers, you will need: • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education, Child Development, required through • Completion of a Master’s Degree in Special Education. • New York State Certification in Special Education required • Birth-2 certification • Minimum one (1) year early childhood related experience to plan individual education plans (IEP’s) to meet the special needs of each child preferred. Prior early childhood teaching experience with a special education preschool required. Brookville Center for Children’s Services at New Hyde Park serves students 3-5 years of age with multiple disabilities and autism.
