Description
Freelancers wanted for Event Installations, Wedding Installations, Ceiling Installations, Event Décor, Fabric Draping, Event Lighting, pay starts at $20/hour Hi! We are a floral and event design studio, looking for freelancers for the package installation arm of our business. In addition to our floral design services, we sell string light and fabric installation packages, wooden dance floor rentals, and some fresh greenery installation packages, at several Philadelphia wedding venues. We install in unusual spaces, such as tents and greenhouses. Installations are usually in the ceiling and require a lot of work on tall ladders. This part of our business is expanding rapidly, so we are looking for more crew members! This is NOT a floral design position! While we do construct some fresh greenery installations, most of these installations will be with fabric and lighting. This is a freelance position, so you would be a subcontractor, not an employee. Our wedding season runs between April and November. During that time, we have multiple installation shifts available almost every week, usually between Thursday and Monday. Shift times vary, from early morning shifts from 5am to 10am, to evening shifts from 5pm to 10pm, to late night breakdown shifts, from 11pm to 2am. For shorter shifts, especially late night shifts, we pay up to $40/hour. We truly believe that paying our crew members well, and treating our crew members well, is the key to retaining workers who feel like partners and collaborators. Many of our freelancers end up working with us for years. If we feel you have the qualifications (see below) to freelance with our company, we’ll schedule you for a trial shift, which is fully paid. If we’re a good fit, we’ll put you on our roster of freelancers, and you’ll have access to sign up for any of our upcoming shifts. You can sign up for as many or as few shifts as you want. We simply ask that you commit to signing up for at least one shift a month, to keep yourself active on our freelance roster. We believe our company offers a fun, inviting, and interesting work environment, and excellent wages. We believe in treating our freelancers with respect, understanding, support and kindness. It is our hope that at the start of the 2022 wedding and event season, we can transition some of our installation freelancers into full time and part time employees for our growing business! In the meantime, we have a pretty full calendar of events that need staffing, between now and November 2021. Our calendar is quiet in the winter, and then roars back to life again in March. If you are interested in freelancing with us, you MUST… • Have at least a year of work experience, doing something that required skills that would apply to this kind of installation work. This could include… - Obviously, any previous experience installing fabric draping or lighting for events. - Working on the physical side of productions like concerts and shows, for example with set design, lighting, rigging, etc. Anything that involved technical set ups in spaces, and ladder work. - Working with large scale art installations. - Working with large scale floral installations. • Be able to provide contact information for at least two former or current employers as references or your reliability and work ethic (they can be any previous employers, for any kind of job). • Have a valid driver’s license and access to a car. Our events are spread out at different venues around Philadelphia, that are not all easily accessible by public transportation. Also, we may occasionally ask some freelancers to move or park our work truck. • Be able to lift 60lbs • Be COMPLETELY COMFORTABLE working on ladders. This is pretty much all ladder work… prepare to climb up and down a LOT of ladders. You must be able to stand near the top of a ladder and work overhead. • Any work experience as a designer or artist will also be taken into consideration. Our installations are creative designs, that do benefit from workers who have experience in, and an eye for, designing and aesthetics. If you think you'd be a good fit, please email us and tell us why, and include your resume or CV! We look forward to hearing from you!
