Manufacturing company located in La Mirada, California is searching for a crating specialist for our packaging department. Position Title: Crating Specialist GENERAL FUNCTION: Responsible for all aspects of crate building, packaging of product and assisting with shipping. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES • Responsible for building either a wooden crates or boxes around various product sizes prior to shipping. • Use efficiencies to make sure we are maximizing material usage and ensuring protection of the product. • Ensure orders are ready for shipment via will-call or freight at deadline. • General packaging and crating of products to be shipped internationally. • Verify product matches the description described prior to packaging. • Inspecting product to make sure all necessary parts and functions are included. • Ability to take on any challenge and is self-motivated to succeed. • Maintains high levels of safety by following company practices while operating any warehouse machinery. • Effectively communicates to all team members, vendors and customers. • Contributes to creating and maintaining a professional, safe, and fun environment. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Experience in a warehouse environment. • Carpentry experience preferred • Handy man skills, having the ability to fix things • Forklift experience desired • Ability to maintain legible, accurate written records and develop reports. • Ability to perform heavy physical work and to lift and carry up to 60 pounds; the ability to stand, walk, sit, twist, reach, climb, kneel, push, pull, ride and perform similar body movements; the possession of hand/eye coordination sufficient to operate a personal computer, hand tools and a forklift; the ability to talk and hear in person, by telephone or two-way radio; and the ability to see and read instructions and reports. • Knowledgeable in shipping helpful. • Flexibility with the ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced, changing environment. • Ability to work independently with a constant focus on meeting schedule requirements. • Strong safety and quality orientation. • Forklift certified preferred. REQUISITE EDUCATION: • High school. REQUISITE EXPERIENCE: • 1+ years experience in a warehouse environment.
