We are looking for an experienced HVAC Service Technician. About the Position: Title: HVAC Service Technician Hours: Full time plus overtime, M-F, Weekends, On-Call Headquarters: Framingham, MA Compensation: $20-$35 / hour (based on experience) PLUS overtime and paid incentives for on-call days! Main Responsibilities: Maintain HVAC Systems: Perform regular and routine maintenance tasks on residential HVAC systems such as gas and oil furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, mini-splits, water heaters, and ACs. Typical maintenance tasks include, but are not limited to, clearing intake and outflow vents of dust and debris, and ensuring filtration systems are clean and effective. Troubleshoot HVAC Equipment: Determine which components are causing issues reported by customers or problems that arise during routine maintenance and system testing, and evaluating whether the system or element can be repaired or needs to be replaced. Repair and Replace HVAC Systems: Ranging from simple parts replacements to complex issues that require complete replacement, a qualified Service Technician must be able to install and test new components to ensure that the repairs have restored the system to working order. Successful consultation with customers requires gathering information about performance issues, providing three solutions with realistic cost and time estimates related to repair and maintenance tasks on all estimates, providing the customer with updates throughout the repair process, informing the customer on any system updates and new operational features, and collecting on-site payment once the service has been completed. As the expert, Service Technicians are to provide recommendations for future action items on the existing system, such as possible troubleshooting solutions, and inform the customer on the many benefits they receive as a member of our Obie Comfort Club. Ensure Safe Repair and Operations: When on the job, HVAC Service Technicians must adhere to strict COVID-19 regulations when entering a customer's house. They must also ensure all systems are disconnected from their power source to reduce the risk of electrical shock and ensure the surrounding areas around the system are dry and free from clutter. For oil and gas-based heating systems, technicians are to ensure that the fuel systems are disconnected before starting the repair. Maintain Customer and Service Records: Using Service Titan via a company-provided iPad, Service Technicians are responsible for maintaining documentation related to the customer's systems and services performed. This includes taking detailed notes of the equipment's age, model, serial number, taking pictures of the serviced unit, and noting any other details to ensure proper maintenance services are performed on that system in the future. Maintain Vehicle Inventory: Technicians are expected to have an appropriately stocked vehicle before the start of their workday for each of their scheduled jobs. If specific parts, tools, or materials need to be ordered, the Service Technician is to communicate with specificity to the Service Manager. Requirements: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a residential HVAC Service Technician. Ability to use technology such as an iPad, work phone, manage an inbox, and actively use ServiceTitan for billing services and our other payment processing platforms. Availability to work on weekends and be on-call after regular business hours. Ability to be punctual, work efficiently and effectively at each job site, and maintain detailed and open communication with the dispatcher and Service Manager. Valid driver's license. Ability to pass a background and drug test.
