After a combined 5 years of service and commitment to Black Lives Matter DC (BLM DC) Chapter, and BLM Global Network, we, Makia Green, Nee Nee Taylor, and Qiana Johnson, have fully transitioned from the organization to begin the next chapter of our journey as organizers in the movement for Black lives and liberation in DMV (DC, MD, VA).
Harriet's Wildest Dreams is a Black-led community abolitionist defense hub centering all Black lives at risk for state-sanctioned violence in the Greater Washington area.
Our work includes legal empowerment, political and civic education, mass protest, organizing campaigns, and community care that builds alternatives to oppressive systems. Our work is guided by our ancestors and centers on holistic healing and transformative justice.
What We Believe
The concerns and needs of the communities we represent will always come first. We know community-based organizing and face-to-face conversations lead to change. So we will listen in order to build transformational, not transactional, relationships.
What We Do
Harriets Responders: Street Defense
Ida Be Free: Legal empowerment for the justice-involved
Pauli’s Emancipators: Community and political organizing
We will be transparent in our work to ensure the community we advocate with can hold us accountable. We recognize that community needs often require resources, care, and support rapidly in spite of the non-profit industrial complex.
