Music scene?

I'm thinking of relocating to Boston for the music scene. Could anyone tell me how it is there for original metal and hard rock? Are there a lot of serious career-minded musicians in the city, are there a lot of clubs to play at that cater to heavy styles of music, and are there a number of rehearsal spaces for musicians to rent for practicing? Any info that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
