Equipped to Counsel is a nine-month training course in the theology and practice of biblical counseling within the local church.

In the course we discuss the need for biblical counseling among believers, both for each other and for the world around us. We explore how God has designed each of His children to be ministers of reconciliation, and how we can step into that role in greater degrees by learning to counsel faithfully and graciously.
Cost for the course is $200, which includes reading materials. Students who wish to pay half the cost upfront and the other half in February, please email Beth Broom ([email protected]).
The course will meet monthly for lecture and discussion, from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm on the second Saturday of each month. Students will be placed with a small cohort and will meet with their cohort once a month at a separate time. Students will be expected to complete about two hours of homework per week. Homework includes reading the Equipped to Counsel book as well as articles assigned by the instructor. Students will be expected to write five reflection papers throughout the course, and they will complete a practicum experience in which they counsel someone for six sessions.
Students may choose to utilize this course as a part of the Association of Biblical Counselors Level 1 Certification. If students choose to become certified, they will pay fees and complete additional work as outlined by ABC. Click HERE to learn more about certification.
