Kingston Steel Drum cleaned and reconditioned drum barrels for many industries. Workers handled barrels of paint, motor oil and pesticide.
Kingston resident Dannielle Genovese will share some of her memories of the Ottati & Goss-Kingston Steel Drum (also known to locals as "the Barrel Factory.) In 1983, the Federal Government shut it down. The site is still designated as a "Superfund Hazardous-Waste Site," and the Environmental Protection Agency continues to monitor this "hot-spot" today.
