WALTHAM, MA — The City of Waltham's 12th annual Riverfest return this year on Saturday, August 7 and Sunday, August 8 on Moody St. along the Charles River. Riverfest, which was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will take place Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and feature live music performances, outdoor dining and drinks, children's activities, storytelling, a nature walk, and canoe and kayak rentals. "I'm so pleased that we're able to revive, albeit on a somewhat smaller scale, this event that thousands of people in Waltham and surrounding areas have looked forward to for years," said Lead Organizer Sarah Hankins in a statement. "After a period of isolation and shut-downs, this will be an exciting time to get back out, see friends and neighbors, and see much of what Waltham has to offer." This year's music lineup at Margaritas Mexican Restaurant includes performances by Waltham Philharmonic Festival Brass, Classic Groove, Alan Arena and Watch City, Dave B and the Hot Shots, Gerry Beaudoin Trio, Moody Street String Band, Different Strokes, 450, and Kemp Harris. The lineup at the stage on Pine St. will include Afro Diamonds from Africano Waltham, Waltham Middle School Rock Band, Gail Finnie, Diamond Family Circus, and Lady Malory. In addition to live music, Riverfest will include arts and crafts, science projects, a show by the Diamond Family Circus, and storytelling featuring stories about Waltham.
