Ever been let go from a job because you can not be around second hand smoke? Truck drivers, you know what I’m talking about. You drive truck for a company for years and suddenly you have to train a person and when you go to light up a cigarette in the cab of your truck, you hear this, “Hey, do you mind not smoking while I’m in the truck while your training me to do this route, can you wait to smoke outside of the truck? I’m sorry but I have asthma” At the end of the week, the person with asthma hears this from the boss upstairs “look, our driver you’ve been training with, he’s been here for years and if you can’t handle being in the truck with him when he smokes his cigarettes, then there’s the door. I’m sorry you have asthma, maybe you shouldn’t have decided to drive truck as your career, every truck driver smokes son, it’s what we do!” I’m curious what you would do in this situation if you were the truck driver who has asthma? Was the trucker with asthma just being a baby or was the truck driver who smokes cigarettes in the cab of his truck in the wrong or was he right by standing his ground with the FNG…?
