Description

NEW HAVEN, CT — New Haven will require people to wear masks indoors, beginning on Monday, as it fights the spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus, reported WTNH-TV. Mayor Justin Elicker made the announcement during a news briefing Friday. The requirement comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designated New Haven County as a "high" risk level for the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant. Some communities, such as Westport, have implemented an indoor mask mandate for government buildings, but New Haven is the first in Connecticut to mandate it for all facilities, reported the Hartford Courant. The mandate to wear a mask will be regardless of vaccination status, and was the result of Gov. Ned Lamont moving to allow municipalities to decide on such requirements.
