Description

MORRISTOWN, NJ — George Gramby Memorial Park needs your help. Non-native, invasive plants are "dominating" the periphery of the park, according to officials. The town — on behalf of the Morristown Shade Tree Commission — is seeking a small team of volunteers to help cut down Japanese Knotweed in the park. The event will take place at 1 p.m. Aug. 15 (rain date Aug. 21). >>>Want to win Six Flags Great Adventure Season Passes? Here's how. Japanese Knotweed is a persistent, fast-growing plant that can often not be destroyed with herbicides alone. The Shade Tree Commission will train volunteers on proper removal strategies. If you're interested in participating, meet them Aug. 15 at the parking lot next to the playground. Wear gloves and work-ready shoes. Bring loppers or clippers if you have them.
